 CURRICULUM – CLASSES XI & XII

Science and Commerce Streams | Academic Session 2026–27

1. General Curriculum Structure

·         Classes XI and XII are treated as one two-year Senior Secondary course.

·         Students generally continue with the subjects chosen in Class XI in Class XII.

·         Students can choose suitable subject combinations according to their interests and future career plans.

·         Subject choices must follow the combination rules prescribed by CBSE.

2. Science Stream

·         Suggested combination: English Core, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology, and one additional subject.

·         PCM: English Core + Physics + Chemistry + Mathematics + Computer Science / Physical Education / Informatics Practices.

·         PCB: English Core + Physics + Chemistry + Biology + Physical Education / Informatics Practices.

·         PCMB: English Core + Physics + Chemistry + Mathematics + Biology, subject to applicable CBSE and school rules.

3. Focus of Science Education

·         Build a strong understanding of basic scientific concepts.

·         Encourage learning through experiments and practical activities.

·         Develop numerical, analytical and logical thinking.

·         Connect classroom learning with real-life situations.

·         Encourage problem-solving and scientific thinking.

·         Prepare students for higher studies and competitive examinations.

4. Commerce Stream

·         Suggested combination: English Core, Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, and Mathematics / Applied Mathematics or another approved elective.

·         Commerce with Mathematics: English Core + Accountancy + Business Studies + Economics + Mathematics.

·         Commerce without Mathematics: English Core + Accountancy + Business Studies + Economics + Physical Education / Informatics Practices / Entrepreneurship or another approved elective.

·         Additional or skill-based subjects may be offered according to school availability and CBSE rules.

5. Focus of Commerce Education

·         Develop a clear understanding of business and economic concepts.

·         Build practical knowledge of accounting and financial matters.

·         Help students understand business through real-life examples.

·         Develop analytical, decision-making and problem-solving abilities.

·         Introduce students to entrepreneurship and responsible business practices.

·         Prepare students for higher education and professional courses.

6. Assessment Pattern

·         Annual/Board Examination: As prescribed by CBSE for the respective subject.

·         Internal Assessment: Periodic tests, assignments, projects, practical work, portfolios and classroom activities.

·         Practical/Project Work: To be completed wherever prescribed in the respective CBSE syllabus.

·         Enrichment Activities: Seminars, presentations, case studies, laboratory work, field-based activities and interdisciplinary projects.

7. Overall Learning Outcomes

·         Understand concepts instead of depending only on rote learning.

·         Apply classroom knowledge to numerical, practical and real-life situations.

·         Think critically and analytically.
